Reverse Engineering

Reverse Engineering.jpg

Reverse engineering, also known as back engineering, is the process of deconstructing products—such as software, machines, aircraft, architectural structures, and other systems—to extract design information. This technique often involves breaking down individual components of larger products to understand their functionality and design.

The primary goal of reverse engineering is to determine how a part was originally designed so that it can be replicated or improved. It is particularly useful when obtaining a replacement part from an original equipment manufacturer (OEM) is not feasible or cost-effective.

The process of reverse engineering gets its name from working backward through the original design process. The challenge lies in acquiring a deep understanding of the product's design by disassembling it piece by piece or layer by layer. This allows engineers to recreate the original product or develop a better version of it.
